Eligibility If you are a University of Chicago student interested in working for the NSP, please go to "Apply" for further instructions and to get an application. Note that both Duel Richardson, who oversees the NSP as the Director of Neighborhood Relations, and one of the NSP school principals are involved in student selection. Subsequent to an interview with Mr. Richardson, the candidate NSP student will interview at a school, usually with the principal, at which point a hiring decision is made.
Each NSP student is expected to use e-mail regularly to report to Mr. Richardson about his or her work in the classroom. At least three e-mail contacts are expected each quarter, but more are encouraged.
All NSP students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of opportunities for training, which are provided several times during the academic year.
Participation is expected in an evaluation process that may include one-on-one meetings with Mr. Richardson and/or group meetings periodically during the school year, as well as teacher evaluations of the NSP student's performance.
