GEAR-UP College Access Coordinator

Lionette is a Coordinator for the GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Project on the University of Chicago campus.  Lionette assists with various programming for elementary and high school students including: tutoring, mentoring, workshops, field trips, and college campus visits.  Her favorite part of the job is being able to expose students to information, resources, and opportunities that they may not otherwise be exposed to.  As an undergraduate student, she worked with Project Upward Bound, which inspired her to work with college-bound students and assist them with future endeavors and post-secondary matriculation. 

She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an Master's in Education (Counseling/Human Services) from Roosevelt University.  She is currently a Student-at-Large at the University of Chicago with an interest in both Divinity and Law.
