Jumpstart's Read for the Record 2022

Are you a UChicago student looking for an opportunity to experience Jumpstart for a day? Not yet sure if NSP is the right fit for you? We have an amazing opportunity just for you! 

Join us on Thursday, October 27, 2022 for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record as we will be reading Nigel and the Moon written by Antwan Eady and illustrated by Gracey Zhang.  This event is an NSP Day of Service opportunity to partner with a local preschool classroom to promote early childhood literacy and get a glimpse of the Jumpstart experience.

Each year Read for the Record brings together millions of adults and children as they read the same book on the same day, building an intergenerational community through reading. Over 24 million people have participated in Read for the Record to date, and hundreds of thousands of high-quality books have been distributed to children in underserved communities across the United States over the past 17 years.

*Please note that Read for the Record will be held during the school day at multiple local schools during the hours of 9am and 3pm.  Volunteers are asked to provide 30 - 45 minutes worth of service during their assigned time.  Specific school assignments/ reading times will be provided after registration.
