Affordable and Effective 1:1 Tutoring for Local K-12 Students

Launched in 2016, Maroon Tutor Match (MTM) is a University-student–led program within NSP that connects local families with University students for personalized tutoring in specific subject areas.

On average, MTM students see consistent improvement within just five weeks of tutoring, with many achieving a one-letter grade increase! In the 2024–2025 academic year, nearly 100 University students participated in MTM, providing support to over 100 local families.

Parent Application

Maroon Tutor Match offers tutoring at a rate of $18 per hour, with parents paying tutors directly for their services. We understand that financial circumstances can vary, so we’re pleased to offer scholarships based on need for families participating in government assistance programs. Students with demonstrated financial need may qualify for full-rate scholarships funded by grants.

Please note: Tutoring for the 2025-2026 academic year will begin November 2025.

Maroon Tutor Match Tutors provide about 6,000 hours of tutoring in a year. Join an organization where your impact will be multiplied across a student’s entire academic career. Our MTM tutors report forming meaningful relationships with community families and often say that the highlight of their time at UChicago was being able to guide a student through their journey of academic success. For the convenience of all parties involved, all tutoring takes place within the Hyde Park area and tutors decide their own working schedule.
